Overview
Set in Tanzania's private Singita Grumeti Reserves above the Serengeti National Parks Western corridor, Sabora is one of the three magnificent Singita properties. Located 1.5 hours flight from Kilimanjaro Airport, Sabora is to the West of Fort Ikoma on the Sabora plains, above the Grumeti River. Sabora is a thirty minute drive from the flagship Sasakwa Lodge. Set right in the heart of the Sabora Plains, Sabora is a unique tented camp with 9 rooms and a main communal area including a swimming pool. The camp looks over the plains and when the Migration settles in to the area will surround the entire camp. Wildebeest have been known to fall in the pool! Decorated in grand campaign 1920s style, with original antiques and opulent rugs, the 9 lavish Bedouin-style tents are deeply romantic. Four poster beds and intricately carved bedroom furniture, plush velvet curtains and flower filled vases are complimented tastefully with the modern conveniences of air conditioning, a Swarovski spotting scope and outside decking area complete with chairs and outside sala. Thousands of wildebeest can surround Sabora from the end of May through June to middle of August. The experience here is unlike any other in the Serengeti during this period – and though the animals are noisy, their density and determination make for a phenomenal wildlife experience! Outside of the Great Migration months the Singita reserve is a superb choice to include at the end of a mobile camp safari – there is certainly nothing better than ending your Northern Tanzania safari in one of the countries most luxurious lodges! The company also often offers special low season deals throughout this period. As part of the private Singita Grumeti Reserves, guests can effectively do what they want whilst they are on safari here. Sabora Plains offers standard game drives at day and night as well as horse riding, walking safari, archery, tennis and bike riding. The equestrian centre here is one of the finest in Africa.
