Sint Maarten is a constituent country of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. It's the southern third of the Caribbean island of Saint Martin (the northern 2/3rds is the French overseas collectivity of Saint-Martin. You'll find a mix of nightlife, with casinos and clubs, great restaurants (it's been called the Gastronomic Capital of the Caribbean), and watersports and nature adventures. The predominant language is English, although the official language is Dutch (French, on the St. Martin side). The climate is sub-tropical, with trade winds from the Caribbean sea. The island is at the northern end of the Lesser Antilles, about 150 miles southeast of Puerto Rico.
