The US Virgin Islands consist of Saint Croix, Saint John, Saint Thomas, and an assortment of much smaller islands--all positioned about 40 miles east of Puerto Rico, and directly west of the British Virgin Islands.
The islands are known for their white sand beaches and strategic harbors. Each of the three main islands has a distinct character: St. Croix is laid-back, with Danish influences you can see in Frederiksted and Christiansted. St. John is 2/3rds national park, and offers world-renowned beaches such as Trunk Bay and Cinnamon Bay, along with hiking, camping, and amazing views. St.Thomas has one of the most scenic harbors in the world, and Charlotte Amelie is the most visited port in the Caribbean.
Dining is a treat here, with cuisines that range from Thai to French to Caribbean. There are historical sites to explore, world-class golf courses, bird-watching tours, and a vibrant night life. St. Thomas is also known as one of the world's best sportfishing destinations, and the islands offer scuba divers some amazing reefs and sunken ships to explore. |
