Serian's Kids on Safari

Video #1 of 2

Serian is the united name for Alex walkers charismatic bush homes in East Africa. This short film entitled Kids on Safari is an insight in to just how exciting and educational a safari can be for children at Serian. Check out Alex's website,

Serian Camp is an exclusive bush camp that flanks a secluded valley located alongside the Mara River. It is also the bush home of Alex Walker, filmmaker and guide in the Maasai Mara. Activities include twice daily wildlife drives, hot air balloon safaris over the plains (extra cost), guided bush/nature walks, bush breakfasts, sundowners, local cultural & community visits.

The area around camp is becoming increasingly busy, but this is offset by the fact that Serian vehicles, which are private for every group, range far and wide to give the best guest experience and by the fact that the camp has a private walking concession on the west bank of the river.

Senses that may have been a little dulled in a car will strain to perceive indications of the wild game that surrounds you. Your perception of the bush will change until you feel an intimate relationship with the environment through which you trek. Walking with Masai Warriors you will be experiencing the bush in much the same way that our pre-historic ancestors did. At night we camp under the stars enjoying a wholesome meals in the company of roaring Lions.

An early morning departure from Serian will see you at the take off point for the Mara Balloon. Suspended in a basket beneath the balloons canopy, you float over the plains and above the forest alongside the mara river, checking out Hippos, Crocodile and Elephant from high above. The flight time is generally in the region of one hour and ends with a champagne breakfast in the open grassland within the reserve.

Serian is about feeling at home! The ability to leave ones phone, watch and email behind. Divorcing oneself from the everyday world and being seduced by the rythmn of the African plains. Our aim is to translate a real experience into your safari.
