Overview

On Desroches Island, there is nothing to distract you from tranquillity, save for the sound of birds singing and an ocean breeze that invites you to come a little closer. We’re the only resort on this captivating coral island in the middle of the Indian Ocean, where the beaches belong to no one and everyone at the same time. Our rustic villas and bungalows are intimate retreats and will make you feel like a castaway who has struck gold.

Seychelles is part of an archipelago in the Indian Ocean, located about 1,600 kilometres (1,000 miles) from the east coast of Africa. You’ll find us in the outer Amirante Islands, a cluster of remote coral atolls that are considered some of the world’s most pristine and untouched. Just a 35-minute flight southwest of Mahé, the main island of Seychelles, Four Seasons is the only resort on Desroches, which provides you complete privacy and exclusivity. With 402 hectares (933 acres) edged by 14 kilometres (9 miles) of white-sand beaches as your personal playground, you’ll feel as though you’ve discovered your own private tropical paradise.

With 14 kilometres (9 miles) of white sand beaches to explore, you can spend your days playing on ours – or find one to call your own. Let the whole island become your playground as you discover endless opportunities for adventure both on land and at sea.

Review:   Recommended for: Couples, families

Pros: Very private--Prince William and Kate stayed here once, in fact. You're about 200 miles from the main islands of the Seychelles, which means you're not going to run into a lot of other tourists. If you're at a dive spot, and you see another diver, it's a guarantee that they hopped off the same boat you did :-). Fantastic service from the staff, who all knew our names, what we liked in our coffee, and what we'd planned to do the day before by day 2 here. They're all really paying attention, and it shows. The bungalows are separated enough that it feels like you have your own section of beach in front of yours, and each villa comes with bicycles you can tour the island with (look for the giant tortoises!). The beach at the Aquarium is absolutely stunning; the scuba diving is probably the best I've experienced anywhere in the world.

Cons: You've got the extra plane ticket to get here from the main islands of the Seychelles, but really, once you're here, we found the room rates pretty reasonable, all things considered.
