Experience this ruggedly beautiful island in a beautifully rugged vehicle..the perfect match.
With contagious enthusiasm, vast knowledge of island history, and an affable personality, your tour guide spends his days doing what he loves most...showing visitors around the island paradise of Moorea that he calls home.
James Michener didn't declare Moorea as the most beautiful island in the South Pacific for nothin'. This island is a stunner! And to prove it, your first stop on this 4x4 tour is Cook's Bay where the almost 4,000 foot Mt. Tohivea dominates the landscape. One look at this deeply forested dormant volcano cascading into the clear azure bay below and you will think you've found the mythical island of Bali Ha'i.
Heading west above Opunohu Bay, you'll discover the lush, family-run horticultural center, the Tropical Garden. Specializing in growing native fruits and vegetables, including vanilla beans, mango trees, and pineapples, this quiet, peaceful place offers delicious samples of fruit juices, jams, and sorbets. We hear the jams are not to be missed.
Continuing on, your guide will show you the island's beautifully terraced pineapple plantations including a stop in the caldera of an ancient volcano.
Your next stop is at the Manutea Tahiti distillery. For a refreshing treat, taste their delectable fruit juices and fruit-based liquors, such as coconut creme and vanilla creme.
Hang on tight as your guide maneuvers up the steep, narrow roads to Magic Mountain. You will find the mountain aptly named. The usual superlatives just won't do here. With sweeping views of brilliant turquoise water, coral reefs and, deep green mountains in every direction, the views from Magic Mountain are, indeed, "magical".
The last stop of the day is at the spectacular Belvedere Lookout.
During the course of the tour, your guide will relate many fascinating tales of Moorea's history, culture, and its warm, friendly people.
