Overview

This might seem like something out of the movies, but we promise that it's real!

Most of New Zealand's epic beauty comes from the stunning coastline and breathtaking inland mountain ranges. You can access these by road, hiking trails, kayaks, or even soar above them in six passenger airplanes. It's hard not to get caught up in this magnificence, but there are also underground chambers in Waitomo that have made a name for themselves as one of the best destinations in the country. Time to go underground!

After being picked up in your private vehicle, you will travel through Tauranga and make a quick stop at the Mount Maunganui beach resort. Here you will find these epic views we mentioned above. Spectacular pastures, hydro lakes, and forested mountains will continue to set the scene as you get closer to the Waitomo Caves. A brief stop at the Otorohanga Kiwi Bird Nocturnal House will provide a rare opportunity to see the endangered Kiwi bird that has become an iconic symbol of New Zealand. A stop for lunch (additional cost) will be made before reaching your final destination.

Once in Waitomo, you will explore a natural landmark that has become a part of over 125 years of New Zealand history. A world-famous boat ride will show you the marvels of Mother Nature as thousands of remarkable glow worms display themselves in what feels like a cinematic wonderland. A local guide will provide informative commentary on all aspects of the caves and how they have developed into what they are today. The glow worms that line caves are unique to New Zealand and something you can't see anywhere else.

After leaving Waitomo, you will make a stop at McLaren Falls Park to enjoy a final bit of New Zealand beauty before finally returning to Tauranga.
