Overview

The Brando is a unique luxury resort on French Polynesia’s breathtakingly beautiful private island of Tetiaroa – an atoll composed of a dozen small islands surrounding a sparkling lagoon 30 miles northeast of Tahiti. The Brando offers carefree luxury in the midst of pristine nature. With access to the island by private plane, the resort features 35 villas on white-sand beaches frequented by sea turtles, manta rays and exotic birds. The resort was designed to reflect Polynesian lifestyles and culture.

From your villa's gracious gardens and exquisite scenery to the timbered walls of your home away from home, you'll always feel close to nature — without sacrificing comfort. The 22 villas along Turtle Beach and 13 villas along Mermaid Bay have been designed to reflect Polynesian lifestyle and traditions.

Every villa is on a white sand beach, has its own outdoor eating and private beach area, its own private pool, soft, cozy furnishings, large windows that let you indulge in the sun, the breeze and lagoon views, and modern conveniences such as a media room. And while enjoying the villa you will have the satisfaction of knowing that everything that surrounds you has been designed around clean, renewable energy sources.

The resort reflects Polynesian culture and offers two restaurants showcasing Polynesian-inspired dishes as well as East/West fusion and classic French cuisine, a luxurious spa overlooking a lily pond, a lush garden and orchard where fruits and vegetables for the restaurants are grown, opportunities for exploration on the islands surrounding the lagoon, a lagoon view bar, beach bar, pool, tennis court, library, boutiques and an environmental research station with guest programs.

Sailing, snorkeling, paddle boarding, kayaking and other water sports and beach activities are offered. Guests can explore the island on bicycle, stroll its beaches, sail or paddle board to a neighboring island, or snorkel or dive with tropical fish.

The exquisite Polynesian atoll of Tetiaroa, located 30 miles north of Tahiti, has always been a place of stunning beauty, tranquility and rejuvenation — first for Tahitian royalty, who chose this island above all others for their summer retreat, and later for Marlon Brando who chose it for his personal sanctuary.

This is the island you dreamed of as a child when the storybook was closed. It’s as if you created your own private world and stepped barefoot into your imagination. With its white sand beaches, swaying coconut palms, colorful birds, and sparkling lagoon, Tetiaroa is a dream paradise.

Beyond its breathtaking beauty, Tetiaroa is a place of rare biodiversity and a natural sanctuary for birds and marine life. Preserving and protecting this rare habitat and its plant and animal life is critical to us. We are working on several programs not just to preserve this sanctuary, but to help restore it and help it flourish.

Tetiaroa has a special place in Polynesian history and culture. It was the exclusive and favored retreat of Tahitian royalty for centuries. Ancient marae (temples) built on the atoll by early Polynesians can still be found there today. With its rich history and ethereal beauty it will always have a special place in the heart of Polynesians.

Google Reviews

About Google Reviews: recently Google has converted their review system to require reviewers to have a proper, identifiable Google+ profile. This is a good thing, as it tends to cut down on bad reviews, both from people unwilling to stand behind their comments and fake positive reviews from the businesses themselves. Old, pre-Google+ reviews are still in the system, and will appear below as written by "A Google User". More info from Google is here.

Review:   Probably the ultimate luxury retreat! An still consisting of 11 islands and only one resort with 35 rooms and 200 staff! The construction quality of the village is amazing, especially considering the remoteness. Nature in abundance and luxury in perfection! Also, its all inclusive and this really means all inclusive!

Review:   Go here if you want a magical and luxury experience. Everything from the dining to the tours to the room service was high quality. The staff are lovely - very kind, helpful and informative and interesting to talk to, but at the same time, the Brando has a unique feeling of being your own private island. Highly recommend.

Review:   Probably the most sustainable luxury resort in the world where even airconditioning is done using cold water from the ocean depths. Amazing place fit for royalty.
