St Kitts Brewery And Wingfield EstateExplore > Saint Kitts and Nevis > Saint Kitts > St Kitts Brewery And Wingfield EstateOverviewSample some of the Caribbean's best known beers! This tour includes: - Round trip transportation from the cruise ship pier - Panoramic drive through St. Kitts - Carib Brewery Tour - Wingfield Estate - Caribelle Batik The journey begins with a scenic drive through Basseterre City whose ancient churches, Georgian architecture, Clock Tower and Independence Square reflect the dramatic history and heritage of St. Kitts' colonial past. The perfect introduction! Your first stop is the Carib Brewery which produces approximately 750,000 bottles of Carib lager beer, Skol, Stout, Guinness, Malts and is the best location to experience an informative, guided tour of the facility while observing the process of how beer is made and bottled. You will be invited to enjoy a chilled bottle or two of your choice on completion of the tour. Depart the brewery for a scenic drive into the heart of the verdant countryside to your next stop, the Wingfield Estate, once the home to Sam Jefferson who is best known as the great, great grandfather of Thomas Jefferson. Surrounded by lush rainforest scenery and shrouded in pristine seclusion, the preserved ruins of this once flourishing tobacco and sugar estate (1625 – 1925) is awakened from its eternal slumber bringing into focus just how time flies by but history never forgets. As you explore the estate ruins (structures, machinery and rum distillery) you will get some insight and understanding of the intricacies of plantation life and will leave with a lasting impression of St. Kitts' once prominent sugar estates, the majority of which lie in ruin. This interesting commentary on human industry, ambition, suffering and endurance is arguably the most interesting aspect of this island's history. A stop will be made at Caribelle Batik to see island Batik printing, stroll leisurely through delightful gardens and perhaps purchase a souvenir before boarding your transport for the picturesque drive back to the port. - On the brewery tour you will be expected to wear the provided ear plugs, hair cover, goggles and reflective vest. - Tours are limited to 10 people. Due to demands of the Holiday Seasons the St. Kitts Brewery may not be conducting tours December to January.
