Athens, Acropolis And Plaka Old District With Lunch And ShoppingExplore > Greece > Athens > Athens, Acropolis And Plaka Old District With Lunch And Shopping
OverviewThis tour is an ideal introduction to this city’s splendid highlights, with lunch and shopping. Athens is renowned as one of the greatest cities of the ancient world and the birthplace of western civilization. For first-time visitors, this excursion is an ideal introduction to the city’s splendid highlights. After a scenic drive through the picturesque marinas of Zea and Microlimano in the Piraeus area, your tour leads you to the center of Athens. You will have the opportunity to admire some of the most important sites of Athens, including Constitution Square, the Memorial to the Unknown Soldier, the Temple of Zeus, the Royal Palace, and Olympic Stadium. Now come to the natural fortress of the Acropolis, one of the most photographed and recognizable hills in the entire world. Accompanied by a knowledgeable guide, you will walk up the uneven footpath leading to the summit. Sights include the Propylaea, the Temple of Apteros Niki, the Erectheum, and the architectural triumph of the Parthenon. Following your visit to the Acropolis, you will enjoy a three-course meal at a local restaurant. You will then have free time to wander around the picturesque streets of Plaka, the old preserved district of Athens that is filled with numerous arts and crafts shops, restaurants, and cafes. After a leisurely afternoon of exploring, you will board your coach for the return trip to the pier. - The price of this tour includes entrance fee to the Acropolis, and a three-course lunch (including a 1/2 bottle of wine, or one beer or soft drink per person at local restaurant). - If you choose to go to the Acropolis Museum, a fee of €10 per person is not included and is payable upon entry. The Museum is closed on Mondays. - The Acropolis may only be accessed by walking uphill. It is a strenuous walk and you must be in good physical condition. There is a pathway, but there are also steps near the top. Keep in mind that the weather may be very hot during the summer. - If you prefer to wait while others visit the Acropolis, you may wait at the bottom near the bus. The bus will not be able to go to the foot of the Acropolis, so extra walking may be required. Your shopping time in the Plaka is on your own. There will be a meeting spot for the return transfer to your cruise ship. - Groups of 2 people will be transported in a pre-booked Mercedes taxi. Please note that while the vehicles are used primarily for private tours and transfer services, it is the law for the meter to be on and for the vehicle to have a taxi sign on top. You will not be expected to pay the meter. - Please alert ShoreTrips in advance of any dietary restrictions or food allergies. We will do our best to accommodate. - Please note that the Sunday Supplement also applies to the following Public Holidays in 2020: January 1; March 2nd; March 25th, April 17th-19th; May 1st; June 8th; August 15th; October 28th and December 25th and 26th. - Supplement is per group and not per person.
