Overview

In Hawaiian, the name Koa Kea translates to "white coral." According to Hawaiian mythology, the ancient Hawaiian world began with the birth of the goddess Po, whose first grandchild was the coral, the goddess Hina. Hina, short for Wahine meaning "woman", is a powerful source of new life and spirituality. The name of the Koa Kea Hotel & Resort is a tribute to the life-giving power of the coral reefs, the new life that has been brought to our hotel and the enduring dependence we have on the sea.

The Koa Kea Hotel & Resort on Poipu Beach is the newest and most spectacular boutique hotel on the island. No other luxury hotel in Kauai boasts the stunning decor of renowned designer Anita Brooks, or Koa Kea's unmatched proximity to the ocean.

Every room is newly renovated to accentuate the essence and landscape of Hawaii: neutral tones are accented with the native colors of rich crimson, turquoise, and coral. All rooms have lanais, offering guests of our hotel unlimited access to the island's sunlight, moonlight, and sea breezes.

Pros: Newest boutique resort located in Kauai, children are welcome but resort caters mostly to adults. Koa Kea Resort is located on the sunny side of Kauai.

Cons: None.

About Google Reviews: recently Google has converted their review system to require reviewers to have a proper, identifiable Google+ profile. This is a good thing, as it tends to cut down on bad reviews, both from people unwilling to stand behind their comments and fake positive reviews from the businesses themselves. Old, pre-Google+ reviews are still in the system, and will appear below as written by "A Google User". More info from Google is here.

Review:   Extremely relaxing. It's a quiet resort for those who just want relax in silence. Great location between all of the sites. Nothing is too far away. If you want to party and drink, look elsewhere. Cocktails at the pool bar are $17-18 a piece, so it's pricey. Everything closes down early. Would advise going across the street to the market and pick up your own booze, just no glass.

Review:   My wife and I stayed here for a week for our honeymoon. The customer service was outstanding, we couldn't ask for better. The girls at the front desk were very helpful with any questions and valet was very nice with tons of pointers on the good spots to go. Only complaint was the prices, I ordered a double rum and coke at the poolside bar and was hit for $26 (not counting tip) I could've bought the bottle of rum for that price. The hotel had good access to the beach. We we're lucky enough to see 2 monk seals sleeping on the beach or first day. I would recommend this hotel to anybody.

Review:   Customer service was first class! The front desk, concierge, bellman, restaurant host and servers were friendly and attentive to our needs that made it the most amazing vacation at their hotel. The pool area was never crowded and they had lounge chairs facing the scenic ocean view. Beach was at your feet. Rooms were great, clean and fresh.

Review:   Halfway through our stay at the Ko'a Kea and loving almost everything about it. We've explored other resorts nearby and are sure we made the best choice for us. Our room is lovely and comfortable and the staff has been very nice and welcoming. We've breakfasted twice at the resteraunt here--Red Salt- and will definitely do that again. The only negative so far has been the cocktail prices. They are higher than anywhere we've seen nearby. 19 dollars for a Sapphire gin and tonic. There are other places to drink nearby though so... All in all very happy with our choice for our first visit to Kauai.

Review:   Spending our last two days here. Our stay was for 9 nights and the service at this resort is second to none. The staff are so friendly and helpful. If you are thinking about staying at the Koa Kea, book the room, no way will you be sorry. BTW I have a garden room which if I step 6inches off the lanai, I have a beautiful ocean view. I will miss this lovely gem when we leave. Love, love, love this place and the people who all make it work.
