Overview

In Hawaiian, the name Koa Kea translates to "white coral." According to Hawaiian mythology, the ancient Hawaiian world began with the birth of the goddess Po, whose first grandchild was the coral, the goddess Hina. Hina, short for Wahine meaning "woman", is a powerful source of new life and spirituality. The name of the Koa Kea Hotel & Resort is a tribute to the life-giving power of the coral reefs, the new life that has been brought to our hotel and the enduring dependence we have on the sea.

The Koa Kea Hotel & Resort on Poipu Beach is the newest and most spectacular boutique hotel on the island. No other luxury hotel in Kauai boasts the stunning decor of renowned designer Anita Brooks, or Koa Kea's unmatched proximity to the ocean.

Every room is newly renovated to accentuate the essence and landscape of Hawaii: neutral tones are accented with the native colors of rich crimson, turquoise, and coral. All rooms have lanais, offering guests of our hotel unlimited access to the island's sunlight, moonlight, and sea breezes.

About Google Reviews: recently Google has converted their review system to require reviewers to have a proper, identifiable Google+ profile. This is a good thing, as it tends to cut down on bad reviews, both from people unwilling to stand behind their comments and fake positive reviews from the businesses themselves. Old, pre-Google+ reviews are still in the system, and will appear below as written by "A Google User". More info from Google is here.

Review:   The staff here is awesome, friendly, and attentive. There is the beach access that is hard to spot where you first get there, and you have to walk along the shore where it opens up to the larger beach area. The room I stayed is what you expect from a Meritage hotel. This hotel is very quiet at night. All you hear is the ocean. The staff are knowledgeable in all the places we asked about checking out and gave tips on where to park.

Review:   This hotel is beautiful! Very clean with a bright modern look. The staff has been so friendly and are happy to give recommendations for whatever you need. There is a beautiful view of the beach from the pool where you can just lounge out in the sun. You can also take the footpath from there directly to the beach if you want. The rooms look clean and also look modern. Beds are big and comfortable. Would stay here again.

Review:   I am really happy with my stay at this resort. The management and staff are dedicated to the quality of the hotel. I can honestly say they pay attention to every single detail including mid-day hydration, spa services, valet, free-weight fitness, and many more amenities. I highly recommend staying here if you ever visit Kauai. 5 stars all the way!

Review:   Fantastic resort. Staff are very friendly and super helpful. Prices of drinks and food are really reasonable. I have been here multiple times and always have a great time. So relaxing by the pool or on the beach.

Review:   Went here for our honeymoon with the Costco package. It was a very good value since it included the breakfast buffet daily and $200 credit to the spa. The place is very pricey though since they require you to do valet parking which is not included in the price and it's $35 daily. The location is awesome since it overlooks a pool and the beach. The local beach is one of the best looking beaches by far and it had an area where you can snorkel and see fishes (only steps out from the shore!) They are very through cleaning the rooms and gave us complimentary wine for our honeymoon! :)
