Google Reviews

About Google Reviews: recently Google has converted their review system to require reviewers to have a proper, identifiable Google+ profile. This is a good thing, as it tends to cut down on bad reviews, both from people unwilling to stand behind their comments and fake positive reviews from the businesses themselves. Old, pre-Google+ reviews are still in the system, and will appear below as written by "A Google User". More info from Google is here.

Review:   Would not recommend Moana surf rider was def not what I was expecting after paying $5000 for 2 weeks!! Well where do I start? Firstly we got checked into our room which was tiny and very out dated does not look like anything in the photos very deceiving. Secondly when we entered our room there was a foul smell like damp/mould. I thought the smell would pass but it didn’t on our second night I actually realised we were sleeping in a DOUBLE bed when we booked and paid for a KING. The room were very poorly looked after house keeping staff did not clean the rooms as they should been. We then complained about this all to the manager Michael which was nice enough to move us to the other side of the resort with a KING bed he also sent us a basket with cookies champagne chocolate and chips and drinks which was nice . But as the days went by I noticed the room that we got upgraded to was very poorly cleaned by house keeping . Hair left all over the bathroom floor urine still left on toilet seat. My mouthwash rinse wasn’t topped up . Floors weren’t vacuumed. Prior to this we stayed at the Hyatt highly recommend this place had no problems rooms were much bigger an rooms were very clean. Def not returning to the Moana was not was I was expecting after paying that amount of money .

Review:   Went for a conference, it was very busy but the staff was nice and helpful throughout the painful long check-in process due to the sheer volume of attendees. Beautiful beachfront view and beach access, 5 stars for that. I took off a star for the inability to book me and wife in a king and got put in a double, even though my reservation was for a king bed booked months in advance. Food at the beach bar was mediocre but not terribly overpriced like some restaurants. The room has all the amenities but is small. Overall great stay and would likely. Book again if the price was right.

Review:   Awesome vacation experience from beginning to end. Great beach bar. Great food. Great surfing. Great live music. Great views of diamond head. The housekeeping staff were very attentive and anticipated any needs. Sorry to leave but will definitely return. This hotel is right in the center of everything.

Review:   Went to Moana Surfrider for late lunch at Veranda on the first floor. Had the greatest time with great view. Over 100-year old banyan tree, sand beach with emerald ocean will give you the best venue for the meal. Easy public accessible location at Waikiki beach but since the hotel is old, the rooms are small and old-fashioned. Personally prefer to stay for 2 days for experience. The service is one of the best I have received. Strongly recommend to visit Moana Surfrider.

Review:   This is a beautiful hotel and the facilities are truly extraordinary. We are very disappointed however with the constant very loud entertainment noise coming from the bar area. We’re in a premium ocean-front room in the Tower on the 7th floor. Throughout the day, all day, we are exposed to very loud music. Closing the sliding glass door does not help. Our only relief comes by leaving the hotel. At night, I use ear plugs to dull the noise, which shouts down about 10pm nightly. After that we can hear the sound of the ocean and he wind in the palm trees. When we checked in, the front desk agent suggested that we take this room because of the extraordinary view. She was right - it is extraordinary, but the noise is the worst we’ve ever experienced in all our trips to the islands (20+) over the years. In the future, we’ll plan to visit another property. This has been truly one of the worst visits we’ve ever made to Hawaii. We just don’t understand why Management feels it’s so necessary to run their entertainment so loudly. We went and sat in the bar area just to see how loud it was down there and we couldn’t hear other each other speak. I’m a disabled veteran with a severe hearing loss. If it sounds loud to me, then it’s loud, believe me! Too bad, Moana Surfrider. For such a lovely property to lower it’s standards like this is just a pity. If you’re considering staying here, do yourself a favor and at the very least, request a room that does not face the bar area and/or pool area. And don’t fall for the pitch from the sweet talking front desk agent. You would probably be better off staying somewhere else. I know we would.
