Overview
C-O-F-F-E-E - Coffee is for me!
This breath-taking adventure begins with a pickup from the pier and a relaxing and scenic drive through the wonderful Costa Rican countryside. Your guide will point out many sights along the way, including coffee plantations, sugar cane, citrus plantations, diverse fruit stands and rural farming communities. About 75 minutes into your drive you will reach Santa Ana Town, just outside the capital of Costa Rica. Upon arrival to the beautiful property of La Chimba, you will have some free time to use restrooms and explore the surroundings before the Coffee tour begins.
It's here you will discover the step-by-step process of seed germination to the first crop of our plants. You will observe and enjoy an explanation in the development process of the plant up to the point of recollection of the ripe grain. You will also learn about the history of La Chimba, its owners, the production and varieties of plants, the geography of the area and the traditional ways of cultivating the grain. This tour is interactive, and you will be able to experience at first hand all the different process involved in the coffee industry.
You will also travel back to the 1920's era of Costa Rica. Starting at La Casa de Chepita with a collection of photographs, furniture and other implements that were exclusively for daily use by the owners of the coffee farms. We continue along a paved path that takes us to the Puente de los Deseos, enjoying the beautiful gardens that surround our chapel which is inspired by the constructions of the 16th century. From there we will observe a replica of Our Lady of the Los Angeles – Virgin Maria, adorned by our beautiful coffee plantations. Arriving at El Barrio, where the workers of the coffee plantations lived, we will have a tasting of our delicious coffee Mi Momento, the famous coffee brand of this company.
To comemorate your engaging tour, you will have time to explore the souvenir store with many beautiful hand-crafted products made by real local artists, besides many
other products that represent the Costa Rican culture. La Chimba offers a beautiful cafeteria and restaurant where you can taste a local meal or their famous coffee
(not included on the tour), before the returning to the pier.
