Private Unexpected Florence Food TourExplore > Italy > Florence > Private Unexpected Florence Food TourOverviewDiscover the delicious difference of Tuscan food. Florence ...the birthplace of the Renaissance. You must discover the artistic and architectural treasures this city holds. Just don't miss the culinary treasures that also deserve your attention. The Oltrarno neighborhood lies smack dab in the center of Florence's historical district, just across the River Arno. This place is blue collar, Bohemian and a foodie haven. Stroll Oltrarno's winding cobblestone streets to 8 tasting stops (and many more than 8 tastings) where the distinctive Tuscan fare will leave you delighted. With your knowledgeable and friendly tour guide at the helm, learn the history of this area as we make our way to the first stop, an Italian bakery. Observe the making of everyone's favorite cookie, Cantucci (aka biscotti), along with a sample, of course. We'll visit a cheese shop/deli to try one of the most beloved of all Tuscan pork products, their unique version of salami seasoned with fennel, known as Finocchiona. Yum! Tuscans are more likely to have a bowl of hearty soup or stew served with a warm piece of bread than traditional Italian pasta. An authentic trattoria will serve it up, hot and delicious. This is chianti territory and a glass served with a crisp, crusty crostino will make you feel like a real Italian! It's time to expand your culinary horizons when we taste a sample of a typical Florentine dish, Lampredotto. Made from a cow's stomach, this sandwich filling is slow cooked in broth, tender and topped with a spicy salsa verde. This street food is a hit with locals, so give it a go. If perhaps Lampredotto isn't your thing, not to worry, there's gelato up ahead. Cool, fruity and refreshing. A delightful way to end the tour. - This is a private walking tour, with some uneven pavement. Wear comfortable shoes. - This tour operates regardless of weather.
