From sausage stands to coffee houses, Vienna truly has it all when it comes to their food scene. But don’t let these seemingly mundane spots fool you. Vienna has put its unique stamp on a number of classics.
Start the morning at a famous Viennese coffee house. But not just any coffee house. Listed as an Intangible Cultural Heritage Site by UNESCO, this piece of history dates back to the 1800s and still delivers an outstanding cup of coffee today.
After your delicious pick-me-up, visit the Sacher Hotel and the Albertina Museum where you will see the Monument Against War and Fascism and learn about the second world war in Vienna. Stop at the Bitzenger Sausage Stand, known to serve the best sausage in Vienna, and sample an Austrian beer before walking to the St. Stephen’s Cathedral.
Take to the streets of Vienna to walk along the Kohlmarkt. Listen to melodies of street musicians while you peruse artisanal shops. Visit a well-known confectionary established back in 1786 to taste a variety of sweet treats fit for royalty.
