Learn about Nazi occupation in Paris during WWII right in the center of it all. This Parisian excursion begins in the 7th arrondissement which will provide a backdrop for life before Nazi occupation. Journey to Ecole Militaire – the site where over 13,000 Jewish individuals were detained before being sent to concentration camps. Your guide will provide an overview of this horrific event and recount stories from French Jews during the time.
A quick ride on the metro will take you to the 16th arrondissement, where the German military presided in Paris. You’ll visit historic sites in the area like Hotel Majestic, the German military headquarters at the time, and learn about the orders Hitler sent to Paris during WWII.
Next, travel to Champs Elysées to see photos depicting all that you’ve learned about during the day. End the day near Place del la Concorde where you’ll examine Paris’ liberation and discuss how France has since coped with the events of WWII.
