Overview

Delve into Hamilton’s history!

This walking tour of Colonial New York felt like Hamilton was leading us himself. Our guide not only shared with us a captivating overview of American history, but also discussed the impacts of our independence and what this means for America today.

Begin your tour in lower-Manhattan. Founded by the Dutch in the early 40s, this piece of New York City was one of the most important parts of the British Empire due to its location on the Hudson River. This is also the location of the Museum of American Indian where you’ll explore Hamilton’s immigrant identity and how America blossomed into a diverse country.

Continue on with your guide through Battery Park and Bowling Green. You’ll learn about the politics of these parks and how Dutch colonization, the British Empire, and Hamilton affected the Revolutionary War. Discover the friendships that Hamilton held with influential figures. Some of these may surprise you!

Next, visit the popular meeting spot for the Sons of Liberty and where Washington bid his famous farewell. Discover Hercules Mulligan, a spy and friend of Hamilton. End the day near City Hall Park where Hamilton was appointed Secretary and his work was realized. At the end of this tour, you’ll walk away with a full picture of America’s most formative time period.
