Grumeti River Camp
Playful and colourful, &Beyond Grumeti Serengeti Tented Camp sits among tall evergreen trees right at the water's edge. The surface of this pan of water is cloaked with a vivid green layer of water lettuce that helps to shade resident hippos from the intense African sun. This is also a playground for wading birds.

Grumeti Serengeti Tented Camp is situated in the renowned Serengeti Naitional Park in northwestern Tanzania. This is an area of enormous conservational significance due to the abundance of wildlife, animal migrations and endangered species. The tented camp is an absolute treat, with open-air showers and authentic African art and furnishings.
Overview
Tanzania, in East Africa, is home to one of the most famous conservation areas in the world: the Serengeti National Park. The Serengeti borders the equally famed Masai Mara National Reserve in Kenya, and with no fences or man-made barriers, huge numbers of wildlife move freely throughout this pristine wilderness area.
Serengeti is the Swahili word for "endless plains", which is the perfect way to describe this magnificent 14 800 km2 (5 714 square miles) stretch of virtually tree-less, game-rich grasslands. The Park boasts 35 species of plains-dwelling game and prolific birdlife.
&Beyond Grumeti Serengeti Tented Camp sits in a remote corner of the mighty Serengeti, right on the banks of a bywater of the Grumeti River. This world-renowned River is known for its wildebeest crossings and enormous Nile crocodiles.
Every year in June and July, Africa's annual Great Migration passes through Grumeti, and hundreds upon thousands of wildebeest, zebra and other herbivores bravely cross the Grumeti River, risking the jaws of some of Africa's largest crocodiles.
Celebrated for its unforgettable wildlife sightings, the Serengeti region is also home to two UNESCO World Heritage Sites which also both qualify as Biosphere Reserves: the Serengeti National Park and the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. This vast, breathtaking ecosystem is one of the oldest on earth, with its climate, vegetation and fauna barely changing over the past million years.
A Serengeti safari, especially at the height of the Great Migration when two million herbivores migrate from the Serengeti to the Masai Mara, is a never-to-be-forgotten, often life changing experience. Imagine floating peacefully above the vast plains in a hot air balloon watching over the seemingly endless herds of grazing wildebeest. It is an extraordinary sight.
Tanzania's oldest game reserve, the Serengeti continues to inspire writers, explorers, filmmakers and photographers alike.
A wildlife enthusiast and photographer's dream, &Beyond Grumeti Serengeti Tented Camp is a world-class safari destination, home to Africa's Great Wildebeest Migration. You can enjoy twice-daily game drives in open 4x4 safari vehicles, and if the timing is right, you will witness the most unforgettable sight of two million wildebeest and zebra as they trek across the vast Serengeti plains in search of new grass.
From balloon safaris and photographic adventures, to romantic sundowners and breathtaking scenery, Grumeti offers an exceptional wildlife experience.
