Private Fascinating Kauai And Wailua River Tour - For GroupsExplore > United States > Kauai > Private Fascinating Kauai And Wailua River Tour - For Groups
OverviewWe'll show you the best sites to see and make a few shopping stops in between. There is a great difference between experiencing Kauai by a large group motor coach tour and our Facinating Kauai Private Tour. Although this private excursion costs more than a bus trip, you will never have to wait for 50 people to move in and out of the bus. You'll be able to stop if you see something that catches your eye. Your guide will direct all of his attention to you. Your shopping stops won't be at places that cater to bus loads. You will be comfortable, well informed, and relaxed throughout the day. This tour provides a great overview of Kauai's many natural wonders. We'll begin by visiting Lihue, Kauai's seat of government, before venturing out into the countryside to visit Poipu, located near the southern-most tip of Kauai. The beaches in this area are favorites for snorkeling and scuba diving. There's lots of fun in the sun in Poipu! Next, we're on to Opaekaa Falls Lookout. The Wailua River makes a dramatic plunge from the high cliffs to create Opaekaa Falls, a name meaning "rolling shrimp." The name dates back to the time when hundreds of shrimp were seen rolling in the turbulent waters at the base of the falls. If time allows, a stop will be made at the Hauola Place of Refuge. Situated at the northern end of the Hikina a ka la Heiau, which is part of Lydgate State Park, is Hauola (dew of life), one of two ancient places of refuge on Kauai. If a Hawaiian had broken a kapu or belonged to a defeated army, the goal was to gain entry to a sanctuary such as this. After going through rites conducted by priests here, they were free to return to their homes. Wailua River was once the land of Hawaii's royalty, first ventured by Puna, the famed high priest of Tahiti, who, upon seeing this land, declared it to be his kingdom. He built seven temples along the banks of the Wailua. One of the temples contains a stone bell that was used to announce the birth of a royal child. We'll travel the river on a spacious, open-air boat that provides excellent views along the flat-water trip upstream. During the ride, you'll be entertained with narrative and musical presentations, and you'll have a chance to learn a little hula. - The cost of the boat ride on the Wailua River is not included in the price of this tour. You may purchase tickets at the Smith's Boat ticket office. Adults: $25. Children: $12.50. - You will have to take a short shuttle to meet your driver. - This tour can accommodate guests with collapsible wheelchairs.
