Experience this Swiss gem on foot!
Basel is a perfect blend of old and new. With its history as a bustling medieval trading town and its current status as Switzerland’s cultural hub, this tour will surely inspire!
Nestled on the Rhine River in northern Switzerland, Basel sits right on the country’s border near France and Germany. The city features breathtaking architecture from the 12th and 16th centuries. With its incredible art scene, busy food markets, historic architecture, and some of the best theaters and museums in the country, it’s no wonder Basel is one of the next up and coming travel destinations.
Your tour guide will not only guide you through the city, but also offer fascinating insights into Basel’s history. Learn about the development of the city and the implications of its location right on the Rhine as you stroll down the riverside to see the beautiful landscape yourself!
Visit the corner where Switzerland, Germany, and France meet before you stop at The Pfalz, the terrace high above the Rhine behind the 11th Century Cathedral which offers a magnificent view over Old Town.
Don’t forget to take a look at the art that fills the city – most notably the Hammering Man on Aeschenplatz. This 13.5-meter-tall work of art by American J. Borofsky has been swinging his hammer since 1989.
