Private: Sights And Tastes Of Kiel Walking TourExplore > Germany > Kiel > Private: Sights And Tastes Of Kiel Walking TourOverviewCombine history, culture, and gastronomy on this 4-hour walking tour. Welcome to Kiel, "Germany’s sailing city with a rebellious heart". Your guide will relate the history of this seaside metropolis as well as it's gastronomy as you stroll Kiel's waterfront and Old Town. This seaside city tour begins, fittingly for a maritime city, with a taste of the morning’s catch. A freshly prepared fish roll on the waterfront is yours to savor as you stroll past the huge ferries docked in the city’s Main Harbour. From there you'll make your way to Kiel’s Old Town to see the stately Art Nouveau Town Hall, the Kieler Hauptkirche (St. Nikolai central church), and the city’s Monastery. The monks are known for the fine, hearty beer they produce and you'll raise a glass to this fine tradition of hoisting a beer while snacking on local Kieler Sprotte. Kieler Sprotte is fish that is smoked in a wood-burning oven, over beech and alder boughs and are presented in wooden boxes, a true taste of Kiel! For dessert, you'll visit a bon-bon factory to discover the secrets to making these delectable confections. Your tour will end at the Old Market where you will have the option to explore the area on your own or be escorted back to your ship by your guide. - US dollars are not accepted in Germany. We recommend bringing Euro for restroom stops, lunch, and entrance fees. Per request, your tour guide can arrange a stop at an ATM if you do not have euros with you. - This tour involves some walking over uneven surfaces. Dress comfortably and wear comfortable shoes. - Depending on your pace and conditions of the day, you may not see everything listed in the itinerary.
