With your own private sommelier, what better introduction to wines of northwest Italy?

As the capital of Lombardy wines, Milan is a perfect city to explore through the art of wine. Whether you're a beginner or novice when it comes to wine, this tour is a true gem as your tasting will be lead by a certified Sommelier, a trained and knowledgeable wine professional who specializes in all aspects of wine service as well as wine and food pairings.

If your hotel is within walking distance of the wine bar, your Sommelier will meet you at your hotel and walk with you to a local wine bar that features high-quality food and wine, an inspirational atmosphere, beautiful and quiet tasting rooms, and outstanding hospitality. He/she will increase your understanding of the subtleties and nuances each wine possesses.

Lombardy wines will be the feature of this tasting experience. They come from the region of Lombardy which is entirely landlocked between two other wine regions, the Veneto to the east and Piedmont to the west - renowned for the most authoritative red aged wines in the whole world.

In the 18th century, vines started to be grown hooked up to wooden poles, a technical innovation still in use today. The vine pests that ravaged most of vineyards in Europe a hundred years later had a profound impact on the wine market and at the same time heralded a new age in the history of the “nectar of the Gods”. The disease-resistant baby vines imported from America favored international grapes like Chardonnay, Sauvignon, Pinot types and Cabernet ones at the expense of the old local varieties.

Today, Lombardy ranks eighth in the amount of wine produced in Italy. You'll learn all about Lombardy as well as pairing combinations, so sit back and relax while you delight in Italy's finest wines.

- Tour cost includes three (3) glasses of wine paired with appetizers.
- There are a few different wine bars used for this tour. You will be notified of the location and if you are within walking distance when your booking is confirmed.
- Guests who are staying at a city-center hotel within walking distance of the wine bar will be met at their hotel by the sommelier.
- Guests who are staying at a city-center hotel that is NOT within walking distance to the wine bar or guests who are staying at a hotel outside the city center will take a taxi to the wine bar.
