Private: Discover Kobe (It's More Than Just Beef)Explore > Japan > Kobe > Private: Discover Kobe (It's More Than Just Beef)OverviewDiscover the modern, the ancient and the culture of Kobe. Kobe is famous for its tender, marbled beef, which you will experience on this tour. But the city has a wealth of interesting attractions, from waterfalls to ancient shrines. Experience Kobe beyond the beef. You'll find the Kobe public transportation system clean and efficient and a great way to discover the city. Just a short distance from the Kobe port you'll find the modern city of Kobe. After almost the entire city was destroyed in the earthquake of 1995, Kobe has risen from the ashes with modern, European-style buildings yet retains its original charm and culture. With mountains and lush forests behind the city, Kobe is also beautiful. Our tour begins with a peaceful green respite in the heart of the city. Enjoy a short hike to Nunobiki Stream, Mentaki Falls, and Ontaki Falls, with views of the city below. In addition to their beauty, these lovely waterfalls have cultural significance in Japanese literature and art. Moving on, you'll visit Ikuta Shrine, a Kobe treasure dating back more than 1,800 years. The Shrine is known for its association with the goddess of making connections, Wakahirume-no-Mikoto. She is worshiped for bringing people together and the shrine is considered a power spot for love and relationships. And now, the moment you've been waiting for, a lunch of Kobe beef in Kobe, Japan. This experience is on par with throwing coins in Rome's Trevi Fountain or sipping a Singapore Sling at the Raffles Hotel in Singapore. This small family-run restaurant has been serving sweet, flavorful, melt-in-your-mouth steaks for which Kobe is so well known, for three generations. And yes, Kobe beef lives up to the hype. This is one meal that will linger in your memory long after you have returned home. After lunch, we'll explore Nankinmachi, the cultural center of Kobe's Chinese community. Its two main streets are packed with shops, food stalls, and restaurants with a small plaza in the center. - All entry fees and the cost of public transportation are included in the price of this tour. - The cost of lunch is included in the price of this tour. - This tour is not wheelchair accessible. - We will do our best to confirm the tour at the standard pricing, however there may be a surcharge on holidays and from the end of December to the New Year. - The cancellation policy on this tour is outside of the normal ShoreTrips Terms of Service.
