Crocodile Tractor And River SafariExplore > Costa Rica > Puntarenas > Crocodile Tractor And River SafariOverviewAn immersive visit to nature at its best, using a wagon and a boat and your imagination. This perfect itinerary immerses you into the ecoculture of Costa Rica the easy way! Anyone who knows travel knows that Costa Rica is famous for its preservation of nature. Sometimes the density becomes a burden and finding your way into the midst of the flora and fauna can become arduous. But now you can make this journey without losing your breath on this adventure! Begin with an hour's drive from the pier into the countryside, your guide will point out many of the interesting sights along the way. You will find mangoes and sugar cane, citrus plantations and coffee growers. Diverse fruit stands along the side of the road will highlight the rural farming communities. You are heading towards the Central Pacific coastline, toward the Tarcoles River and the Carara National Park. You will know when you 'have arrived' as you enter private property, space devoted to showing off the ecosystems of the country. Time to stretch your legs before you take the next step in this journey; clean restrooms await you! Now you will be directed to your transportation, sort of a local open-air tractor pull, fun for kids and comfortable for adults. With the gears on low, you will begin your ride through this property of 500 acres, crossing the river 8 times along the way. Your total distance is about 2 miles but it will seem much shorter as you will have so much to see. Stops along the way are made so your guide can point to indigenous birds and special trees that help the locals' lifestyle. If you are game, you can even cool off in a small pool amidst the rainforest. Now you are stimulated to learn more and we will take the next step on more modern wheels to get to the Tarcoles River where an eco boat is waiting for you. A totally different scenario is open to you as you cruise slowly down the river. The abundant wildlife includes crocodiles, colorful aquatic birds, scarlet macaws, howler monkeys, and other wonderful creatures! Knowing you are likely thinking about your stomach at this point, we will make a stop at the El Jardin Souvenir Store, the best property in the area. Here you can purchase souvenirs, grab something to eat, or just hang out doing some last-minute people watching before returning to the pier. - Dress in very comfortable clothes. We recommend loose-fitting clothes, baseball hat, tennis shoes or sandals that close. - You should bring sunscreen, insect repellent and if you plan to swim in the river your swimsuit and towel. - Gratuities are appreciated. - Each tractor holds about 25 people. - This is an easy adventure, suitable for all ages. - This tour is not wheelchair accessible. - If you are traveling with a collapsible wheelchair, you will need to notify ShoreTrips in advance.
