Private: Guided Half Day Tour Of PortoExplore > Portugal > Porto > Private: Guided Half Day Tour Of PortoOverviewAn introduction to Porto and it's charms! Its inhabitants are proud to be "tripe eaters" and they call their city the "unbeatable". It is a fact that the city of Porto has been the stage for some of the most important historical and cultural events that still today mold the Portuguese culture. Porto is one of the most impressive Portuguese cities with a certain feeling of rivalry towards Lisbon. Yet Porto is completely different. It's charms are discovered slowly and stay with you long after your visit. This half day introduction will provide just a taste of your exploration in Portugal. We'll begin the day in the heart of the city center, which also happens to be a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Our first stop is the Church of São Francisco. Although the Gothic-style church has an unassuming exterior, the stunning interior is what gives the building the nickname "cave of gold". Your jaw will drop as you admire the intricate details of this memorable church. Our next stop, the Stock Exchange Palace, is another historic building with an incredible interior design. Previously the home to the stock exchange in Portugal before being relocated to Lisbon, this building displays incredible granite work and magnificent neo-Arab influences. After visiting the remarkable palace, we'll make our way to Porto Cathedral. On our way, we'll take some time to admire the São Bento Railway Station, home to the blue and white glazed tiles that are iconic to the city. Once we explore the cathedral, we'll gaze upon the Douro River and all of the port wine lodges that were key to the city's fame and fortune. As we wrap up the tour, you can choose to return to your hotel or cruise pier, or choose to visit one of the port wine lodges before returning on your own. - As much takes place in the old city, a good portion of this tour is walking on uneven surfaces and inclines. - Food, beverages, and gratuities are not included in the tour. - Entrance fees are not included and must be paid on site. - Please dress comfortably and wear appropriate shoes. - If you wish, at the conclusion of the tour, you may visit one of the Port Wine lodges and return to your hotel or cruise ship on your own. A guided visit is not included in the tour. Days offered: 7 days a week Departures:
