Overview

A perfect way to see Ketchikan with your small group.

If you prefer a combination of traditional and off-the-beaten path adventures, this tour is designed for you.

One of the most popular sites in Ketchikan is Saxman Totem Village. This is the only totem park in Alaska that has 29 authentic totems carved by Tlingit and Haida natives. The poles were moved here from the original sites in the 1930s and have been restored by native carvers. Your guide will give you great insight into the background of the tribes and the ritual of carving.

The next part of your journey takes you to Herring Bay, a quaint area that is far away from the crowds. This small inlet cove allows you to experience the sights and sounds of the incredible wildlife that only Ketchikan can offer. During salmon season, black bears, bald eagles, blue herring, and seals are often spotted in this area. Be sure to keep your eyes wide open and your cameras ready!

You'll check out the highlights of the charming town of Ketchikan. As you make your way around the city, you'll drive past the cannery, some of the residential areas and the waterfront, including Creek Street, the former historic Red Light district. You can choose to end your tour here to do some shopping or continue the ride to the downtown area to return to your cruise ship.
