Overview

A fun and unique way to see the sights of Ketchikan.

Ketchikan is a lovely town, with interesting places to visit and beautiful wilderness nearby. Enjoy the fresh air as well as the highlights of Ketchikan in this open-air cable car-style trolley.

Discover the charming town of Ketchikan. As you make your way around the city, you'll pass the cannery, see the flowers in City Park, and drive through residential areas and the waterfront, including Creek Street, the former historic Red Light district with its wooden boardwalks. Your guide will tell tales of the "good old days" with stories of dance halls, brothels, and bootleggers.

Moving on, you'll head south out of town to Herring Bay, a quaint area far from the crowds. This small inlet cove allows you to experience the sights and sounds of the incredible wildlife that only Ketchikan can offer. During salmon season, black bears, bald eagles, blue herring, and seals are often spotted in this area. Be sure to keep your eyes wide open and your cameras ready!

One of the most popular sites in Ketchikan is Saxman Totem Village. This is the only totem park in Alaska that has 29 authentic totems carved by Tlingit and Haida natives. The poles were moved here from the original sites in the 1930s and have been restored by native carvers. Your guide will give you great insight into the background of the tribes and the ritual of carving as you watch carvers turning tree trunks into works of art and culture.

At the end of the tour, you'll be returned to Creek Street to stroll the boardwalk and do some shopping, or continue the ride back downtown to return to your cruise ship.
