Private: Coquimbo And La Serena City TourExplore > Chile > Coquimbo > Private: Coquimbo And La Serena City TourOverviewExplore the highlights of these stunning Chilean cities. La Serena combines well-preserved Colonial charm with one of Chile’s most popular and best-equipped beach resorts. We begin our journey to La Serena by first visiting the highlights of Coquimbo. We will first visit the Main Square and La Merced Church, then will pass by La Herradura seaside resort where legends of swashbuckling and pirating thrive. We will then pass through a colorful fishing village, where we will see the modern Coquimbo Casino and the famous "El Faro" Lighthouse - an important symbol of the city of La Serena. Once we reach La Serena, you will notice the many Colonial-style buildings located in the heart of Chile's second oldest city. By law, the construction of new buildings must be of the same style, so you will see many neo-Colonial designs as well. Here we'll visit the Plaza de Armas, the main square, and the impressive Cathedral. We will then visit the bustling Francisco de Aguirre Avenue with its unique Open-air Sculptures Museum. Our next stop will be at the Archaeological Museum which houses the most complete collection of pre-Colonial artefacts of the El Molle, Las Animas and Diaguitas cultures. This museum showcases an original centuries old stone Moai from Chile's mysterious Easter Island. We'll then travel along the scenic Avenue del Mar and make a stop at the Recova Handicraft Market where you'll find pottery, wood, stone, alpaca, and wool products. Finally, we'll travel to an observation point to enjoy a panoramic view of La Serena city and Coquimbo Bay. - Please wear comfortable clothing and shoes. We recommend you bring a hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, camera and water. - If you'd like to add an hour to the tour duration to have time for lunch, please contact ShoreTrips for pricing information.
