Overview
Explore the backstreets of Paris for an authentic culinary experience.
Forget the calories...you're in Paris, where the love of life and the love of food are celebrated around every corner. From long-held traditions to bold innovations, join us for this delicious exploration of Parisian gastronomy.
In a city like Paris, where to begin? Your experienced local guide will take away the guesswork and the stress and lead you down the backstreets and neighborhoods that best embody Paris away from the busy tourist areas. Make some new friends as you stroll the streets and savor the flavors. Listen as your guide provides historical embellishments along with each tasty sample.
We begin at the Marche Saint Quentin, a covered local market brimming with the freshest of ingredients. One of Paris' 96 markets, this is the perfect place to sample both local and international tidbits.
A favorite of Paris' cafe and bar scene is the mouth-watering Croque Monsieur, that grilled, toasty, melty ham and cheese sandwich. But this unique version adds some modern twists for a delicious surprise.
France is known for its variety of flavorful, rich, sometimes pungent cheeses and Paris is no exception. We'll visit a 17th century cellar to learn about the traditions and history associated with the production of one of the world's best-loved foods. And, of course, we'll sample some as well.
Mmmmm, what's that aroma? It's the smoky goodness of the charcuterie platter, artistically served with a baguette and pickles and accompanied by a glass of fine Loire Valley red wine, the perfect compliment to cured meats.
One of the neighborhoods visited is the multicultural, "place to see and be seen" Haut Marais. Celebrities and artists love this eclectic, charming oasis in the middle of the city and it is here we will savor a couscous dish with merguez sausages so authentic you'll feel like you've stepped into Morocco.
A delightful sampling of pastries that look ALMOST too good to eat is the "piece de resistance" to finish our meal. Enjoy an exquisite finale to this Parisian guststory experience with a cup of strong Italian coffee, served in one of Haut Marais' most well-known cafes.
We'd be remiss if we didn't introduce you to the chefs, purveyors, and artisans, often working behind the scenes to bring life to Paris' culinary scene. Learn about what motivates them, their history and their passion for their craft.
