Private Full Day Tour To Edinburgh From DundeeExplore > United Kingdom > Scotland > Private Full Day Tour To Edinburgh From DundeeOverviewGet to know Scotland's capital! World festivals that draw millions a year and UNESCO World Heritage sites that timeline Scotland's history make Edinburgh an epicenter of the collision between the country's fascinating past and vibrant culture. This historic city is split between two distinct areas by the beautiful Princes Street Gardens. To the south is the old town which is famous for its medieval design and represents the perfect maze for any urban explorer. The highlight of this area is the Edinburgh Castle that consumes the city skyline and by no coincidence is the most visited spot in Edinburgh. Stories of Edinburgh's past will be unavoidable around every turn as you learn about everything from massive battles to lavish feasts. The main vein of the old town can be found in the west to east running Royal Mile that stretches from the aforementioned Edinburgh Castle to the Holyrood Palace. One of the most famous streets in the world, the Royal Mile is full of some of the best attractions in the area including the Scottish Storytelling Center, St. Giles' Cathedral, the Scottish Parliament and countless restaurants and shops. North of Edinburgh and in the port of Leith you will visit the Royal Yacht Britannia. This former yacht of the British monarch, Queen Elizabeth II, was decommissioned in 1997 and now stands as a scope into the lives of the royal family. While in service the yacht was run by an admiral, 20 officers and 220 yachtsmen with a Rolls-Royce on board for in-style land adventures. Receptions for the rich and famous, honeymoons and family holidays were just a few of the yacht's uses as it traveled over one million miles to become one of the most famous ships in the world. - Guides can be difficult to reserve on a short notice.
