Ultimate Anne Of Green Gables Private TourExplore > Canada > Charlottetown > Ultimate Anne Of Green Gables Private TourOverviewExperience the sites loved by Anne, inspired by locations on Prince Edward Island. So many people have fallen in love with feisty, red-haired Anne Shirley, fondly known as "Anne of Green Gables" and brought to life by author Lucy Maude Montgomery. Lucy Maude was born on Prince Edward Island and this tour will showcase the magical places that inspired her settings for the "Anne" books. A "must" for every fan of Anne as well as those who appreciate the charm and beauty of P.E.I. As we depart Charlottetown we will enjoy some of the sights and history of the area. Driving through the picturesque countryside you will view rolling farmlands, scenic coastlines and villages just as author Lucy Maude Montgomery described them in her novels. We will visit Silver Bush and the Anne of Green Gables Museum. This property is owned by the Campbell family, cousins of Lucy Maude's. The homestead was built in 1872 by Lucy's Uncle John and Aunt Annie and is the setting for her novel “Anne’s Lake of Shining Waters.” Upon seeing the property you will understand why Lucy Maude called it the “wonder castle of my childhood.” There will be time to explore the homestead, the flower gardens, and enjoy views of the Lake of Shining Waters. We will make a photo stop at the small fishing village of French River, one of the most photographed and painted places on the Island. You too will want a photo of your own to remember the calm ambiance and timeless beauty of this charming town. We'll also stop for photos at Ms. Montgomery's birthplace in New London which has been preserved as a historic site. Here you realize why she was so inspired by her surroundings. And now, the moment you've been waiting for...we arrive at the Green Gables House National historic site. Readers of the Anne of Green Gables books will recognize the old farm site and understand why Anne was so taken with it. Located in Cavendish, this is the area that was the inspiration for the village of Avonlea in many of Lucy Maud’s novels. Tour the main farmhouse and barns, wander through the well-kept gardens and stroll the walking paths on the extensive grounds. On your return to Charlottetown, we'll drive through P.E.I. National Park with its beautiful sand dunes, quaint lighthouse and crashing surf. Passing through the fishing village of North Rustico will complete your day. - This is a private tour, which allows some flexibility with the itinerary.
