Eastern Prince Edward Island Lighthouse Tour Winery Visit Private TourExplore > Canada > Charlottetown > Eastern Prince Edward Island Lighthouse Tour Winery Visit Private Tour
OverviewDiscover the charm of southeastern Prince Edward Island. Many of Prince Edward Island's tours focus on the north shore, which is lovely. But the eastern shore holds treasures of its own, from quiet agricultural communities and lush green landscapes to fishing villages and romantic lighthouses that dot the coastline. Come see for yourself. As we drive through Charlottetown, the capital of Prince Edward Island, we'll see some of the highlights of this lovely city before we make our way "down east". Take in the varied landscapes of coastal cliffs, beaches, forests and farmland as your knowledgeable driver/guide shares stories of local history. Soon we will arrive at our first stop, the Point Prim Lighthouse overlooking the beautiful Northumberland Strait. Built in 1846, it is one of the few brick lighthouses on Prince Edward Island. We continue on to Wood Islands Lighthouse with its 54 ft tower. If you're adventurous, climb the narrow stairs for a spectacular 360 degree view of the coast, a working fishing port, and a ferry terminal. You’ll also have a chance to explore the 124-year-old interpretive center for P.E.I. Lighthouses. We move on to the "non-lighthouse" portion of the tour with a visit to Rossignol Estates Winery with its vineyards, art gallery and panoramic views of the Strait. For a goodwill donation, enjoy a tasting of one (or more) of their fine local vintages and browse their shop. As the tour continues, your guide will share information about the Island's three major industries, agriculture, fishing, and tourism. By now we will have arrived at Panmure Island Lighthouse, one of the most scenic lighthouses on all of P.E.I. Constructed in 1853, it is the oldest wooden lighthouse on the Island. Finally, before heading back to Charlottetown, our tour will be capped off with a drive to the charming town of Montague, boasting the tranquil Montague River, tree-lined streets and lovely homes. - This is a private tour, which allows some flexibility with the itinerary. Discuss your wishes with your guide upon arrival. - If you would like a different departure time, please contact ShoreTrips. - There is a charge of $5 for adults and $3.50 for children (under 12) to climb the Woods Island Lighthouse, which also includes a guided tour. - This tour operates rain or shine.
