OverviewIt's time for a journey outside the ordinary. It's like New York pizza, once you've tasted the Bronx and Harlem, you'll be back for more. Sometimes we get so caught up visiting all the famous, "must-do" sites that we forget to venture a little farther afield. This tour is designed to open your eyes to the world outside of Manhattan. Don't get me wrong, Manhattan is wonderful. But just a short drive from the neon lights of Broadway you'll find another world. Often overshadowed by their more famous sibling, the Bronx and Harlem abound with history, art, music and a culture all their own. The Bronx boasts the Grand Concourse, its own version of Paris' Champs-Elysees as well as the stunningly beautiful New York Botanical Garden on the banks of the Hudson River. It is here you will find Yankee Stadium, Art Deco architecture, and more. Who knew? Harlem, too is full of surprises. Originally settled by Europeans, it is best known as a residential and commercial neighborhood of African-Americans that still resounds with gospel choirs, jazz clubs and soul food. This tour will take you to see the famed Apollo Theater, a significant performing venue for many legendary African-American performers, such as Ella Fitzgerald, Stevie Wonder and James Brown. The magnificent Cathedral of St. John the Divine is also located in Harlem and on the border between Harlem and Manhattan you will find the prestigious, Ivy League Columbia University. With the help of your knowledgeable local guide, you will soon have a new appreciation for these two unique areas. - The order of this itinerary may change. - Gratuity for the driver IS included in the cost of the tour. - Gratuity for the guide is NOT included in the price of the tour.
