Pyramids Of Teotihuacan And Guadalupe BasilicaExplore > Mexico > Mexico City > Pyramids Of Teotihuacan And Guadalupe BasilicaOverviewA chilling history lesson! Teotihuacan, encompassing the Pyramid of the Sun, Pyramid of the Moon, and the Temple of the Jaguars was once one of the largest civilizations on the planet. The secrets of the past are largely that, secrets unknown to modern scholars. What is known is that Teotihuacan was at it's peak between 2,100 years ago and 1,400 years ago when it began to decline, partially a result of a devastating fire. After this time Aztecs made pilgrimages from what is now Mexico City to the site, and named it "Teotihuacan", which means, "the place where the gods where created". Today we will make our own pilgrimage to one of the most important religious places in Latin America. On our way out of the city we will stop at the Hill of Tepeyac, where you will enjoy one of the most beautiful views of the Guadalupe Basilica. Once we have reached Teotihuacan you will have time to see the Pyramids as well as the Temple of the Jaguars. Before returning to Mexico City we will stop at a local workshop where you will see the process of carving and polishing volcanic glass, known as obsidian. You will also learn about the production of tequila as well as sample different types of drinks made with the maguey plant. - This price of lunch is not included in the tour cost. - Entrance fees are not included in the tour cost. - You must be able to walk on uneven surfaces.
