Visit Postojna Cave, the most popular tourist attraction in Slovenia with 36 million visitors over the last 200 years. Navigate through this large karst structure via an electric train and explore the webs of tunnels, passages and galleries. This cave is home to the proteus, or olm, an entirely aquatic salamander. It is the only place in the world that you can see this creature up close. Because of its beautiful rock formations and interesting creatures, Postojna Cave is one of the most famous caves in the world. Continuing on we will visit the picturesque, Predjama Castle, the only preserved cave castle in Europe. The castle was constructed on a cliff above the idyllic Lokva River over 800 years ago. The unique Medieval architecture gives the castle a romantic, yet mysterious feel. During the 15th century, a year-long siege took place in Predjama and this castle provided a refuge for Erazem of Predjama, the most well-known owner of the castle. Erazem was a robber baron and was said to be an undefeated knight until one of his servants betrayed him. This is a day one must experience to truly appreciate these great wonders! - Please note that this program departs one hour after cruise ship arrival and will be assigned upon confirmation. - Food and beverages are not included in tour cost. - All entrance fees are included in tour cost. - This program requires a minimum of 2 participants.
