Our boutique hotel is set on the secluded beach cove of Playa Pan de Azúcar, just steps away from the ocean. The shelter of the cove protects the warm Pacific waters from strong currents. This small light-sand beach is fun for all ages, with gentle waves to practice boogie-boarding and surfing, and good snorkeling along the northern and southern points, where turtles, rays, trumpetfish, parrotfish and many more tropical marine species swim in the clear waters.

Located in the Potrero area in Guanacaste, we share the natural beauty with nearby beaches such as Danta, Prieta, Flamingo. We are also 35 minutes away from the lively Tamarindo Beach area.

We are a hotel committed to the sustainability and preservation of Pan de Azúcar beach. We are part of the Blue Flag program and we are ranked with 4 Green Leaves from the I.C.T. Certificate of Sustainable Tourism.

See thumbnails of all photos for this point of interest.

Located in a secluded cove in Guanacaste province, Hotel Sugar Beach is a 4 Green-Leaf boutique hotel nestled across a 24-acre beachfront property.

Our boutique hotel sits on Playa Pan de Azúcar along Costa Rica’s northern Pacific Coast – famous for sunshine, surfing, eco-adventures and incredible natural beauty.

Come stay with us and enjoy the intimate atmosphere and personalized service Hotel Sugar Beach has to offer.

Google Reviews

About Google Reviews: recently Google has converted their review system to require reviewers to have a proper, identifiable Google+ profile. This is a good thing, as it tends to cut down on bad reviews, both from people unwilling to stand behind their comments and fake positive reviews from the businesses themselves. Old, pre-Google+ reviews are still in the system, and will appear below as written by "A Google User". More info from Google is here.

Review:   We love it here. Gorgeous location with an amazing sunset. Nice pool and a great beach, especially for tide pools and some simple off-shore snorkeling. I have also come to some fantastic yoga sessions here. Staff is super-friendly and helpful. The food is great! I highly recommend this restaurant and hotel. We bring our children here often on the weekends. Very romantic spot during the sunset. Stop by. It is lovely.

Review:   Can’t flush toilet paper which sucked. Often ran out of hot water which didn’t make sense because the hot water heater in my room was tankless. Satellite TV reception quality was terrible. Great food!!! Super nice staff!!! Wish there was a fitness center to workout while vacationing. Although in a touristy area of CR, there is nothing to do within walking distance but if you love beach, pool, good food, and iguanas this is the place… Victor is super nice

Review:   This is an awesome beach / restaurant. Best way to visit the beach is to go to the hotel and then walk through the facility. They have chairs and a few places that are shaded. Very uncrowded on the day we were there. No charge for the chairs but you are of course expected to put the chairs back when you are done. We spent a relaxing three hours or so here including lunch and drinks. Great way to spend some time.

Review:   While the view was okay, Our food took more than 40 minutes. When I got the starter salad with the capers and balsamic reduction, it was wilted and hot. The beef tacos were quite gross. There was nothing satisfying or even half decent about any of the food that we ordered. The service was terrible. I will not eat there again.
