Overview

Dynjandi in Icelandic means "thunderous".

A pickup at the cruise ship pier will begin this exciting day. En route to Dynjandi, your guide will make sure you have the opportunity to see the fantastic scenery of this entire area.

Known locally as "The Jewel of Westfjords", Dynjandi is the largest and by far, the most impressive and magnificent of all waterfalls in Westfjords! It is actually a series of 7 separate falls, each with it's own unique beauty. As you make your way to the top, a climb of over 330 feet on a paved path, there will be an observation platform and place to take a break at each of the lower falls. Do stop and enjoy each one's special features. Once you arrive at the very top, take in the spectacular view of the surrounding area.

Suddenly, the reason Icelanders have named the falls "thunderous" will be clear to you. Enjoy the roaring, yet calming sounds created by the rushing water as it makes its way down the rocks on its long journey to the sea. As the water continues on its way, it will divide and separate into one of the other falls.

Despite the power held within this force of nature, when viewed from below, the combination of the falling waters, tumbling together as they reach the bottom, are soft and reminiscent of a bridal veil.

After a delightful time at the falls, your driver will take you to Hrafnseyri, a perfect place to enjoy some free time before we return, it is both lovely and charming!

- This program always coordinates with when cruise ships are in port. A tour time will be assigned upon confirmation.
- Dress warmly and in layers as the weather can be changeable. A raincoat and waterproof hiking boots are recommended due to the spray from the falls.
- Although there are rest stops along the path, be aware you will be climbing over 300 vertical feet to get to the top of the highest waterfall.

- This tour requires a minimum of 2 participants and can accommodate a maximum of 19 participants.
- You must be in fairly good physical condition to be able to walk the path to the top of the waterfall to get the full experience.
- This tour is available from May 1st - Sept 30th. If you are interested in taking this tour outside of those dates, please contact ShoreTrips. Tour schedule always coordinates with when cruise ships are in port.
