Overview

From an exciting past to a lovely present makes you feel like you are in a storybook fable.

A cool little storybook town has been called one of the best kept secret destinations in Europe. But don't take our word for it. Look at www.europeanbestdestinations.com.!

Nin has been called the most romantic city in Europe and the fact that it seems a secret makes it even more so. It is the oldest royal city in Croatia at more than 3000 years old. It is known as the Croatian Bethlehem and has possibly the world’s smallest cathedral. The natural landscape itself is a unique home to rare plants and animals, providing over 2000 habitats.

On a small island in the middle of a shallow lagoon the small town of Nin can be found with its old centre, connected to the mainland by two stone bridges and is only 10 miles from Zadar, yet it seems like a world away once you arrive. It is referred to as the cradle of the Croatian state. The coronation Church of St. Nicholas, can be found here, as well as one of the word’s most beautiful beaches. Tour of the remains of the temple of Diana, Condura (ship from the 11th century), the church of St. Cross, Memorial Gregory of Nin and church of St. Ambrose. Visit the Museum of Salt, which dates back to Roman times. Rich archaeological finds from Nin's history can be seen in museums, illustrating how in the course of their history they have been deeply intertwined with the present of the oldest royal Croatian town, and the cradle of the Croatian state. Rarely does a visitor find such a rich history and dynamic present.

With an expert guide, you will learn and leave with a well-rounded knowledge of Croatian history, all from this small island stop.
