Golden Circle And Snowmobile ComboExplore > Iceland > Reykjavik > Golden Circle And Snowmobile ComboOverviewWhile others 'do' the Golden Circle, you will EXPERIENCE it the memorable way! If you feel that you must see the highlights of the Golden Circle but it sounds too tame for you, this snowmobiling experience will be the cherry on the sundae! One thing is for certain, the Icelanders are a happy bunch. You are about to find out why as you meet your enthusiastic guide to start your day. No meek minibus for you though, as we meet you with a Super Jeep. As many of these vehicles as there are around here, people will be snapping pictures of your transportation all day long. For sure you will be looking down at them, as you tower among the giants in these incredible all terrain vehicles that seem to be able to do about anything, including traverse rivers! Begin your sightseeing about 40 minutes outside of Reykjavik at the Thingvellir National Park. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is so named as it is a cultural, historical, and geological gem. The Icelandic Althing, an open-air assembly representing the whole of Iceland, was established here in 930 AD and continued to meet until 1798. Over two weeks a year, the assembly set laws - seen as a covenant between free men - and settled disputes. But your experience will be different as you walk through the geological fault known as Almannagia to that location where that assembly was held. Taking advantage of the geology of the area will enhance your day as well as demonstrate the result of Icelandic fresh air in your lungs. Excitement is building as you power along the highway. Your stop at Gullfoss waterfall, which is considered by so many as one of the most beautiful in Iceland, will be memorable. Designation as one of the most magnificent of Iceland's waterfalls will be best understood once you are there as waterfalls seem to be everywhere - but they are not created equal by any means! Finally, head to the glacier Langjokull where you will disembark your super jeep and board a snowmobile. Your self-driving experience will be on or by the glacier. These easy to ride snowmobiles will give you double the fun as you are introduced to the background of glaciers while zipping on top of one. If this doesn't deliver exhilaration, nothing will! The last of the Golden Circle is a stop at Haukadalur Valley at the Geothermal Area. Here you will learn why Iceland has benefitted from the earth directly as it has been using geothermal energy for thousands of years. By simply using the power derived from the Earth’s internal heat, hot water is the least expensive commodity in the country. This may be best understood while watching the spouting geyser Strokkur eject a giant plume of steam in conveniently spaced intervals of about 5 minutes apart. The entire area is a thermal field of hot springs, bubbling pools and spattering steam vents, visible as you walk towards the big geyser. - The snowmobile portion of this program is one hour. - Please note that we are not able to pick up from all hotels in Reykjavik. If you are staying at a hotel inside the bus free zone (city center area), then a central and nearby meeting location will be provided. If you have questions, contact ShoreTrips. - If your ship does not make port, this tour will be 50% non-refundable. Please take out travel insurance to cover this rare occurrence. This is an exception to the normal ShoreTrips Terms of Service. This tour will NOT be fully refundable in cases in which conditions make it impossible for the ship to dock and disembark passengers in a timely manner. - A minimum of 2 people is needed for this shared tour to operate. - You must have a valid driver license to drive the snowmobile. If you do not, you must purchase the double rider with a driver that has a valid driver's license. - The maximum group size is maximum 16 passengers in a Super Jeep. There might be more people on the snowmobiling tour, but the ratio is 1 guide for every 6 people. - The order of this tour may change. - Book early in order to avoid the disappointment of sell-outs. Please note we may have alternative tour options at a higher cost. Days offered: 7 days a week Departures:
