A Private Day In Oxford And BathExplore > United Kingdom > London > A Private Day In Oxford And BathOverviewA ride through England's most beautiful countryside! Designed by Barry and Sam long ago on their adventure out of Oxford, this itinerary reflects their favorites sights. Rather than spending a good share of your time in a vehicle traveling through traffic out of London, we have found great success with this avenue of adventure. We will arrange for your train tickets from London to Oxford with a return from Bath. The train will give you more freedom on your journey and also the experience of a train trip in the UK, a much preferred method of movement. Once you arrive in Oxford, you will be greeted by your guide for a 2 hour tour of Oxford. Often referred to as the City of Dreaming Spires, Oxford is famous for its university and its place in history. For over 800 years, it has been home to royalty and scholars and now it is a very cosmopolitan city. It has a growing hi-tech community, not surprising with such prestigious universities here. One of the most beautiful is Exeter College, one of the constituent colleges of the University of Oxford and the fourth oldest college of the University. Visit Exeter College and, if time permits, take a quick punt. Drive south thru the countryside to the Swan Inn in Swimbrook, a country pub which was featured in Downton Abbey. The Swan Inn, made famous because of Downton Abbey, is an idyllic Cotswolds Inn. It sits on the banks of the River Windrush near Burford, it exudes the atmostphere of old England. If you choose to dine here, great. If you would like a different type of lunch, consult your guide. Lunch is at your expense. The afternoon tour consists of a drive into Bath thru the Cotswolds and a tour of this ancient Roman town. 1987 was the year that Bath received the designation of a UNESCO World Heritage Site. There is much to see here, including the Royal Crescent, Thermal Spas, Museums, and the scenery that influenced Jane Austen. Your time here will be the best, and a great culmination to the day. And you will have the opportunity to walk off your lunch if you choose. - Please dress comfortably for the day, in layers. - Food, beverages, gratuities are not included in this tour. - Your train tickets are not included in the cost of this tour. Round trip tickets cost approximately $100 per person. We will book these for you, but not until we receive confirmation of space from the local guide. You will get a copy of the roundtrip reservation. - In the Cotswolds we use vehicles that hold up to 7 people. If you have a larger group please contact ShoreTrips.
