Overview

ShoreTrips is wild about Wellington.

Even with an odd weather pattern, the people of Wellington would tell you they wouldn't want to be located anywhere else. At the bottom of the north island and standing at a fraction of the size of Auckland, this capital city of New Zealand has made a name for itself as one of the hippest spots on earth. Between the beautiful lookouts and variety of museums, theaters, and boutiques, odds are you will leave wondering how Wellington has held the title of "coolest little city in the world" for as long as it has. How is it possible that more people haven't moved here?

The first stop along your tour will be the famous "Beehive," which is home to the executive wing of the New Zealand Parliament Buildings. This one of the most recognizable buildings in the country and is registered with the New Zealand Historic Places Trust. After a brief stop at the uniquely constructed St. Paul's Cathedral, you will make your way to the Wellington Cable Car. This iconic activity provides round trip transportation from the center of the city up to the Wellington Botanic Garden. Views from the gardens and your next stop at Mount Victoria will provide the perfect picture of how Wellington has settled in at the bottom of the north island.

A visit to Peter Jackson's Weta Cave will give you some insight into the studio that created the world famous Lord of the Rings series. Pose next to original LOTR props and memorabilia! From here, you will journey past picturesque Lyall Bay and Island Bay before finally stopping at the Kopahou Visitor Center, which, on a clear day, provides stunning views of Wellington's coast. A final stop will be made at the Te Papa Museum (Museum of New Zealand).

- Please wear comfortable walking shoes.
- The cost of the Wellington Cable Car ride is included in the price.
- A stop for lunch is included in the tour, but any food or beverages are not included in the price.
