Mombo Camp

Mombo Camp offers the finest game viewing experience in Botswana's Okavango Delta. 'The place of plenty'Mombo Camp is located in the Mombo Concession, on the northern tip of Chief's Island within the Moremi Game Reserve. The area boasts enormous concentrations of plains game and predators which begin virtually on Mombo's decks, with the surrounding floodplains teeming with game year-round. Built under large, shady trees, Mombo's nine spacious en-suite tents are raised two metres from the ground providing excellent views, with a long veranda, a sala and indoor and outdoor showers. The camp's main living, bar and dining areas are under thatch, while the boma adds traditional flavour to delicious dinners under the stars. There are two plunge pools in which to soak and a gym to work off the excellent food. Highlights- Arguably the best big game viewing in all of Africa

Overview
The highlight here is the great concentration of predators and plains game on the secluded Mombo Island where Mombo camp is located. The tented suites at Mombo Camp & Little Mombo are spacious and elegant with a romantic layout featuring outdoor showers, private deck area and thatched gazebo for afternoon siestas.
Mombo Camp and Little Mombo Camp earned highest rank (94.82 pts) in the Top 500 Africa and Middle East category, World's Best Hotels of 2012. Mombo's overall rank is among the world's Top 45 hotels, one of 9 African resorts.
The summer month of January at Mombo Island offered an abundance of life springing after December's rain pour. we had a dry spell that lasted for almost three weeks, causing a slight drying out of the vegetation and a slowing down of the rampant growth typical of this period. A verdant cloak of vegetation coats the landscape and the air has a crispness. Rain colors the vista and with the absence of dust everything seems sharper and brighter, carrying vision further, as though brought to super focus. Butterflies and flowers compete to color the floodplains and the interior woodlands are crowded with wildlife. Grazing herds of Zebra, Impala and Red Lechwe number most amongst the game, with strong herds of buffalo and elephant roaming in extraordinary numbers on Mombo Island.
