Overview

Dogs make people happier. Meet some Huskies!

Dog mushing might be the most unique "state sport" in the country, but we won't ask you to travel 1,049 miles like the fearless mushers who are legends throughout Alaska. The rush of a dog led summertime sled will await you, fortunately sparing you from the harsh conditions of the rugged backcountry. With a pickup at the pier, you will get a brief tour of historic Skagway before arriving at a musher's camp in beautiful Dyea.

To start, you will hop on an open-air unimog for an exciting ride up a mountain road, providing classic Alaskan views of glacier-fed streams and waterfalls. Once at the top, you will be greeted by your musher, who will introduce you to the sled dogs and load you into the wheeled sled. These strong dog sledding veterans will escort you down a mile long trail, carving your group deep into the Tongass National Rainforest. After this unique adrenaline rush, you'll hop back in your vehicle for a journey to a breathtaking overlook of the Dyea Tidal Flats. Keep your eyes open for eagles, bears, seals, and the unavoidable snow capped mountains!

After some amazing views, you will head to the dog kennels for a chance to ask questions about the sport and interact with puppies. Feel free to roll around with them in the dirt! Socializing the dogs is a key component of their future success, so consider yourself a part of the team. A crackling fire and some warm drinks will await if the excited dogs tire you out. Unfortunately, you aren't allowed to take them back on the ship with you.

- Participants must be able to navigate approximately 12 steps and have the ability to walk 100 yards, either on their own or with the assistance of another traveler in their party.
