Overview
Hike Cost Rica's rain forest and immerse yourself in nature--exotic birds, animals, flowers.
Famous for its amazing biodiversity and wide variety of microclimates, as well as its warm, friendly people, Costa Rica is a nature lover's paradise! And Carara National Park, located in a transitional zone forest between the tropical dry forest to the northwest and the tropical rainforests of the southwest, harbors a rich mix of flora and fauna reflecting the influences of both life zones.
Carara is one of the best places in Costa Rica to see the large and colorful scarlet macaw and many other bird species, as well as a variety of forest animals.
This tour will take you on a hike along a short, slightly hilly, loop trail through the forest, near the park headquarters, and along a flat, walkable road between the forest edge and the River Tárcoles, where American crocodiles are commonly seen along the banks.
Mangrove forests and tidal flats at the mouth of the Tárcoles add yet another facet to Carara’s rich habitats.
The climate ranges from hot and dry (mid-November to April) to hot and humid, during the rainy season (the rest of the year).
