Welcome to Helsinki, architecturally the city is a delight with many fine buildings designed by eminent Finnish architects; wide streets and great squares in a compact city. Panoramic tour will show you the best of Helsinki, the capital of Finland and World Design Capital in 2012. White Lutheran Cathedral, which was completed in 1852, is the landmark of the city. It stands magnificent on neo-classical Senate Square and gold-domed Uspenski Orthodox cathedral presents the Russian era in our history. This is an impressive area and it is clear that Helsinki wanted it to stand out with pride. Market Square has always been a citizens daily shopping center, fresh fish, berries, vegetables and flowers, assortments change as four seasons go by. Helsinki Harbor is busy for welcoming cruise visitors all over the world. They sit close to each other, as one feeds the other, so to speak. The arrival of cargo ships as well as fishing boats bring food to the market so quickly, you could say this is 'sea to table'!. The Finnish National Gallery, National Theatre, modern National Opera house and Kiasma, a superb museum of modern art, represent the cultural life in Helsinki. World wide known Finlandia Hall, designed by Alvar Aalto stands proudly overlooking the Töölö Bay. The Sibelius monument stands for honoring the well known Finnish composer Jean Sibelius. The unique church of the Temple Square is built into solid rock, therefore also know as Rock church. This country, and particularly the capital, commemorates its famous citizens, most which are recognized world wide. Yet though Helsinki is developing fast, the design and layout of the city and its beautiful architecture has been very gracious to have left so much space for green areas such as parks while the sea and beautiful archipelago surrounds the city.
