OverviewFrom Bean Town to the Shots Heard 'Round the World" and Concord's Literary Revolution. Enjoy a lovely, scenic drive to the outskirts of Boston. Explore the historic battlefields of Lexington and Concord, where the first military engagements of the American Revolutionary War took place. We'll visit the Lexington Green, where, on the morning of April 19, 1775, "the first blood was spilt in the dispute with Great Britain," as George Washington wrote in his diary. In Concord, we'll see the Old North Bridge that has recently undergone restoration. This site is most famous as the location where the "shot heard round the world" was fired. Next, we'll travel towards Cambridge, visiting Harvard Square, and, of course, Harvard University. Stroll along the wonderful tree-lined paths as your guide provides narration on the impressive buildings and history of this Ivy League University. While in Cambridge, we'll also make sure to incorporate a lunch stop at any one of the casual eating options in Harvard Square. As we return to Boston, we'll pass some of the city's historic sites, including the State House, Boston Common, Beacon Hill, The Custom Building, Faneuil Hall, Quincy Market, Cheers, Bunker Hill, and the USS Constitution, nicknamed "Old Ironsides." Our final stop will be at the North End, where we'll see the Old North Church...stepping back in time to the night that Paul Revere began his famous ride to Concord warning that "The British are coming!" We'll also pass Paul Revere’s house. A trip to the North End wouldn't be complete without passing by Mike’s Pastry Shop, famous for Italian pastry of all kinds and one of President Clinton's favorite stops. - The cost of meals/food is not included. Cold bottled water, hand sanitizer, and tissues are available for your comfort. - This is a private tour so the itinerary is somewhat flexible.
