Google Reviews

About Google Reviews: recently Google has converted their review system to require reviewers to have a proper, identifiable Google+ profile. This is a good thing, as it tends to cut down on bad reviews, both from people unwilling to stand behind their comments and fake positive reviews from the businesses themselves. Old, pre-Google+ reviews are still in the system, and will appear below as written by "A Google User". More info from Google is here.

Review:   We had the pleasure of staying 2 nights at this wonderful hotel. The service was impeccable, food was brilliant, bed felt like I was at home. It is the only place I want to stay in Sydney from now on. Well done team, you are doing a fantastic job. Merry Christmas to you all.

Review:   A pleasant enough stay and within walking distance to the Opera House (our reason for being here) but I'm not sure this hotel is up to Sofitel standards. Small bathroom with the shower over the bath. Room is smaller than many Novotel branded hotels I've stayed in. The only hot canapes in the Club Lounge last night were mini meat pies and cheese samosas and they seemed to be short staffed last night and this morning at breakfast. Currently listening to nail guns fixing carpet to the floor in the room next door. An encouragement to check out early!

Review:   I stayed couple nights there to celebrate my mums birthday. The hotel is old but its kind of historical place so its amazing to be able to stay there. Good locations. Good food and excellent service especially from one of the food and beverage staff on breakfast, Medina. Shes really helpful and caring to guest, most importantly I came from overseas and she gave me brief explanation about things that i can visit around. Overall all the staffs are friendly and they work well in a busy sutuation. Really good and happy to stay there again. Thank you!

Review:   I stayed there for 2 nights, unfortunately. And, I still regret why I had that nightmarish experience of destroying my very first two days in Sydney. 1- The room basically had NO view in a city which is the Cultural Capital of Australia where you can see a monument or landmark literally in every street. 2- When I entered the room, it had NOT yet been remade since the last occupant had left. The room was such a mess and in their defense, they apologized and gave me a different room at about midnight. STILL this was an indictment of the managerial procedures in the hotel. 3- I arrived at about 10pm and I was received rather like an intruder. (I'm a western looking man in usually smart attire.) 4- The room the gave me did NOT have a tub and just had a small shower like those in barracks or dorms. This last one was a once-in-a-life-time deal breaker. Stay away from it and spend the same money on a real 5-star hotel with view and management.

Review:   Sometimes, you just want a hotel to be a hotel. The Sofitel works; the staff are lovely and helpful, the rooms are clean, the gym is great. The location is almost unparalleled. But, above all, the breakfast service was brilliant. We easily brought extra family to join us and there was no problems with them eating with us. Looking forward to going back!
