Overview

Christchurch is a long way from the Mediterranean – nevertheless, the opulence of an Italian High Renaissance Palazzo awaits you at the Heritage Christchurch. Designed by Joseph Clark Maddison and opened in 1913, the hotel is listed as a category one building on the Historic Places Trust Register, reflecting its status as a building of national significance. The hotel’s grand design is fitting: after all, Christchurch is regarded as the Garden City, and is regarded internationally for its culture and refinement.

Google Reviews

About Google Reviews: recently Google has converted their review system to require reviewers to have a proper, identifiable Google+ profile. This is a good thing, as it tends to cut down on bad reviews, both from people unwilling to stand behind their comments and fake positive reviews from the businesses themselves. Old, pre-Google+ reviews are still in the system, and will appear below as written by "A Google User". More info from Google is here.

Review:   Lovely old building oozing with character and very spacious rooms/ hallways. Can't speak for the bar as didn't use it, but the restaurant is decent, if perhaps not up to the usual exceptional standard at other heritage hotels. Location is great also, as it's very central. There is also a small gym that serves the purpose well.

Review:   Fabulous! Central location in a beautiful old building. The bar serves excellent drinks and food and is open late. Super friendly people.

Review:   Classic We spent about a week here. It was a comfortable and convenient hotel. Well-equipped including laundry machine and dryer, stove, oven, etc. The beds were comfortable. The building was old style but well taken care. The location was good. We could walk easily to the park, the shopping mall, even good restaurants. They offered a valet parking too. Of course, we had to pay for that.
