Overview

Christchurch is a long way from the Mediterranean – nevertheless, the opulence of an Italian High Renaissance Palazzo awaits you at the Heritage Christchurch. Designed by Joseph Clark Maddison and opened in 1913, the hotel is listed as a category one building on the Historic Places Trust Register, reflecting its status as a building of national significance. The hotel’s grand design is fitting: after all, Christchurch is regarded as the Garden City, and is regarded internationally for its culture and refinement.

Google Reviews

About Google Reviews: recently Google has converted their review system to require reviewers to have a proper, identifiable Google+ profile. This is a good thing, as it tends to cut down on bad reviews, both from people unwilling to stand behind their comments and fake positive reviews from the businesses themselves. Old, pre-Google+ reviews are still in the system, and will appear below as written by "A Google User". More info from Google is here.

Review:   The service was really nice. We arrived late at night but the manager on duty gave us a very warm welcome with valet parking. There is also a cool bar/cafe there. The brunch was nice.

Review:   Located centrally in town next to the old cathedral (the state of which is still sadly indicative of the events of 2011), in a stunning building and equally stunning rooms. In close proximity to all you could want and more. A short stroll down to New Regent Street where you will find several stunning places to wine (or try your hand at the craft beers at The Institute) , dine then potentially wine and dine some more. The hotel staff were outgoing, both behind the desk and out the front bar/resteraunt. If you're looking for a comfortable stay in the centre of Christchurch you could do a lot worse than this, however I'm not too sure you could do better.

Review:   Amazing hotel room--laundry and kitchen in the room! Free internet. Breakfast is slightly above average.

Review:   Only good thing is that they have OGB Bar at the entrance, otherwise Heritage Hotel itself would be nothing but very expensive backpacker shack... Building has more of historical value to Christchurch, but in the sense of that building to be a hotel with 4 stars...it is really - really, far - far away from even two star hotel standard... I am giving two stars (with huge exaggeration) on compassionate grounds to HH Christchurch

Review:   Amazing building. Heating in it suite was faulty and pillows too high but still a great hotel.
