Review:   Recommended for: Couples on a budget

Pros: Melia is located in my favorite part of Nassau, Cable Beach. The Level Privilege Program at Melia has you feeling like Royalty as they will cater to your every need.

Cons: This resort is not at the level of Sandals, but is nice for those looking for a moderate resort that fits in their budget.

About Google Reviews: recently Google has converted their review system to require reviewers to have a proper, identifiable Google+ profile. This is a good thing, as it tends to cut down on bad reviews, both from people unwilling to stand behind their comments and fake positive reviews from the businesses themselves. Old, pre-Google+ reviews are still in the system, and will appear below as written by "A Google User". More info from Google is here.

Review:   Stayed there last week for a little getaway with the wife. All the negative reviews had us a bit spooked, but those people were completely wrong and had the wrong expectations. The resort was great. It was only 10 mins to the airport, the beach was beautiful, the room was clean and nice, the food was good, the drinks were always flowing, and the service was good. For the price you pay, you're not going to get the finest cuisine or top shelf drinks, but it's a great value. We had a blast and will definitely go back. Some PRO TIPS for people heading there. Definitely book the restaurants as far out as you can...they get booked up quickly and the restaurants that take reservations have the best food. Get out to the beach early and tag your beach chair with towels to reserve them. It's not the greatest or fairest system...but everyone there does it so if you don't play by those rules, you'll end up without a chair. We wished we had brought our own insulated cups for drinks. We saw other people doing that and it was genius. Otherwise, the drinks warm up quickly in the heat.

Review:   Had a blast at this resort! Celebrated my husband's 60th. birthday there. Great food! Entertainment was pretty typical. (Let's face it folks, you're not going to see really famous people there at the prices we're paying). It rained quite a bit while we were there, but thanks to the entertainment stuff who's name tags I have put in the photos they made our vacation a lot of fun! When we couldn't have our fun outside they bought it into the main lobby. People sitting in the lobby seem to enjoy it and there were many participants! The only complaint I would have about this place is that the service and all the restaurants was very slow. Almost every time we had breakfast we had to ask for coffee. Nobody just came by and said would you like coffee or tea. I understand that this Resort is fairly new, I think it was purchased in July. So it would make sense that they are working on making it a great Resort. I love that the entertainment was held in the main lobby and that the dancing was in the lobby bar, you could sit and have a drink or you could get up and dance. I really hope they don't change that! I would definitely go there again!

Review:   We had a wonderful vacation. The hotel is older and in need of some minor repairs; however, they are making repairs daily. The restaurants food was wonderful. Aqua (Italian) was delicious fresh pasta and sauces. The Marketplace (buffet) was my least favourite. The food was good, but the wait staff was not attentive very hard to get refills on drinks. The staff love children and seem to really cater to their needs. The mini bar in the room really came in handy for those little snacks the kids need between meals. Our room attendant went above and beyond to fill the snack bar when my kids were hungry at 930pm. We would definitely return to Meliá. The Bahamian people are so friendly and kind.

Review:   The resort has a lot of room for improvement. Essential elements of the island vacations are good sleep, good food, especially fruits, and good service. Mattresses and pillows are too soft for me, so back and neck pain wakes me up at night. On the day of our arrival, the chef was completely ignoring allergies the guests were mentioning. The steak was impossible to chew. Food quality is generally poor, but O'Grille is an exception both service and food wise. Monique is absolutely amazing. She proves that one person can make a difference by lightening up our day with unexpectedly good service. Few people at Market Place also are friendly and provide good service. It's possible to get some good food. A guy at Esta Vida was very nice, but the only good food was the one not touched by the chef: cheese and olives. One of the girls at restaurant reservation desk may want to stay away from customer service career. I can't understand why I'm getting tastier fruits in New York than on an island.
