Overview
How terrific to leave the crowds and head to wine country.
The Saanich Peninsula is perfect - for its panoramic scenery and its Pinot Gris!
The Saanich Peninsula is located just north of Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. Because it is bounded by the Saanich Inlet on the west and various straits of the Strait of Georgia on the east, it is a long promontory which was once mostly a farming community. It has a lovely rolling terrain and is surrounded by water, delivering a beautiful and rich scene. The area is full of quaint villages and the backroads are dotted with wineries. It is here that we are headed. Just 30 minutes from downtown Victoria your expert driver will deliver you to your first establishment for the tastings of British Columbia wines.
The Saanich Peninsula’s mild temperatures and fertile land produces fruity whites such as Pinot Gris and medium-bodied reds such as Marechal Foch. This tour will create different itineraries based on day and season but in all, there will be 3 stops so you can familiarize yourself with the wine produced here. Most of the wineries are small and family-owned and are delighted to host you. The peninsula is also home to a cidery, a gin distillery as well as parks and organic farms.
Enjoy the scenery as well as the knowledge of your driver, a local who is here because he loves it. During the tour you will stop for a great lunch allowing you to sample the local cuisine.
